Lam visited Hong Kong Baptist University’s Chinese Medicine COVID-19 Telemedicine Center and found an online consultation service for COVID-19 patients launched by the university’s TCM team on last month.
The counseling service has provided a free online counseling and counseling service, as well as TCM’s delivery service, for people in home isolation or quarantine, benefiting more than 10,000 people so far.
“Due to the severity of the fifth wave of the outbreak and the highly transmissible variant of Omicron, hundreds of thousands of people have been infected,” Lam said. “I am happy to see that the treatment and prevention of disease through the use of Chinese medicine has fully played against the epidemic.”
With the support of the HKSAR government, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority has been promoting the anti-epidemic treatment of TCM through various means, including providing TCM rehabilitation service to discharged patients and offering TCM treatment. TCM to hospitalized patients.
She said the HKSAR government will continue to leverage the benefits of TCM in preventing and controlling the COVID-19 epidemic and consolidate TCM as an integral part of Hong Kong’s medical system.
Also on Saturday, Lam told a press conference on the latest epidemic situation that the cross-border supply of fresh food in Hong Kong has generally returned to normal and the price has also fallen sharply.
She said that for a while, many people in Hong Kong either got infected or became close contacts and had to be quarantined, which led to labor shortages in the transportation industry. and affected cross-border and local logistics. However, the situation has continuously improved.
